About the Author The Ol’ Chef, George Atcheson, had a cooking column that appeared in various newspapers in the Pacific Northwest in the 1980’s and also hosted a popular radio program out of Astoria, Oregon, that focused on all things food. A World War II veteran and an artist and art history professor, who later turned his artistic expression toward the culinary arts, Atcheson specialized in desserts and cake decoration. While this collection of his most inspired recipes also includes savory dishes, such as roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, it is also a collection of many of his favorite desserts.

The recipes always come out flavorful and look great. They are easy to follow, fun to read, and everyone wants the recipe after dinner. It's always a fabulous dinner. Many of the recipes have become our favorite standards. Alternative ingredients are often included as well as variations on a theme. A most helpful and enjoyable recipe book.

The recipes are classic Pacific Northwest, and the stories are great. Kudos to Dave Atcheson for going to the trouble to republish his Dad's excellent cookbook. Buy it an you won't be disappointed!
