Great for anyone interested in Greek culture or cuisine By Sara E As someone who has always wanted to visit Greece, this book was a fantastic way to experience Greek culture without the travel expenses. The author recounts her experience growing up in a traditional Greek household, giving a unique view of Greek culture. Throughout the book, there are stunning photos that show off the beauty of Greece.As for the food, this book is perfect for both experienced cooks and beginners - even those who have never had Greek food. The author lists many of the most commonly used ingredients in Greek cuisine so you'll never get to a recipe and see an ingredient you don't recognize. And most of the recipes have accompanying photos so you can see the finished product. I haven't tried many of the recipes yet, but if they taste half as good as they look, I'm sure I'll find my new favorite dish soon!

A LOVE STORY By Olga Ok ok so this is a LOVE story!!At last it's finally out.....I have waited for this with so much anticipation.Ruth knowing you and your family from a young girl and seeing so many memories put together is very moving. The world needs to know that every page, fork, spoon and plate is the family's, and that this is so much more than a cookbook.You have shared yourself with the world and allowed everyone to enter your kitchen, your home, your heritage. I'm so proud of what you have put together and I'm going to display this art piece with its cherished recipes and pass onto your nieces with great pride because they know what each page means. Thanks so much for your story and your journey.I love your little insights on top of every recipe. I can hear you speaking to me as you write it and I can see you rolling out your pastries and loving on others whilst I read it.I want to invite everyone to not only indulge in the food but take time to observe each photographed page and see the kind of person you are. They are your photos so delightfully put together. I know what each bead and jewellery piece means to you and who passed it onto to you and I'm truly privileged. It's visually stunning - amazing photographs that draw you in and cause you to linger on the page. The content is equally beautiful. The first third of the book is dedicated to telling the author's story and communicating her love of Greek cooking and culture. Her stories of her family and in-laws are sweet and touching, and her encouragement to make the family table a place not just a time to eat a meal for nourishment, but to savor both the food and the company, is refreshing. The remaining portion of the book gives you a quick overview of the staple ingredients you will use in Greek cooking, as well as a brief description of each item, and then goes straight into the recipes. The recipes range from more basic and familiar sounding dishes (meatballs, stuffed peppers, etc) to exotic (pickled octopus!). I enjoyed sitting for an afternoon and reading through the book and all of it's recipes - I am excited to start trying them all out! If you enjoy learning from a passionate home cook who has thoroughly researched and practiced her cooking technique for many years, this is the perfect book for you!
