Be a Expert By Morgan Joyner There’s no better way to commemorate family events than photography, and I needed to know how to atleast hold and stop shimmering my hands. While I had cannon EOS tech camera but my outcome is never praised. Sweet deal! For someone who is very health conscious but doesn't know an iota about cooking, this book is a gem. Truly a life saver! Especially that my boyfriend's folks invited me to spend Christmas with them in New York and requested that I prepare a dish or two. Now, I need not to panic anymore because this book is the answer to my current predicament. LOL! Ashley did a good job in making the dishes look effortless to prepare by going straight to the point with her directions, and presenting it in a bulleted form making the next step easier to spot. The variety of dishes she included in the book are great and did not just include the "usual". From the low carb slow cooker chorizo and chicken soup, to low carb grilled cilantro beef, down to the yummy chocolate avocado ice cream. Yum! Everything is mouthwatering and I'm getting all famished just by reading it. Plus points also for including the nutritional value. However, not all meal has it. So far that's the only downside to this book. Oh! And I hope she was able to include a picture for some recipes, if not all. But in totality, this book is a good find and would purchase a paperback copy if it becomes available.

Well, of course and it is very obvious that it is a feast and so expect a lot of food on the table and it will be so sad if we will just stare at it and not eat it because of the fear of gaining so much weight. Thanks to this book we know have nothing to worry about as she provided 50 low carb recipes that is perfect for the holidays! Whether they are raw, sautéed, baked, or fried, I can eat them any time, any day. There are so many recipes. Some that are variations on recipes that I already make and then there are others that I would have never thought to make. Each of the recipes are clear and easy to follow. Though it is my cooking process to read a recipe more than once, in this book I grasped the how to’s of the recipes on the first read. Also, from a design perspective, the layout of the book has enough white space so that the recipes aren’t crowded and the fonts are easy to read. Not to mention that the images of the fresh vegetables were so vibrant.I highly recommend this cook book filled with great information and yummy recipes; your family will love. It’s for the experienced cook and a newbie like me. You'll feel great about them eating their veggies and watching them enjoying something so healthy! Broccoli for life!

It has tons of different recipes that include broccoli, and starts with an introduction to broccoli, including the different kinds of broccoli, shopping for it, and the right way to cook it, which is helpful for me, because my husband has always complained that his mom used to overcook it to the point where it was really soft and not very appetizing.The multitude of broccoli recipes includes Asian Style Broccoli with Beef, Garlic Broccoli and Cashews, Italian Style Broccoli and Pasta, Broccoli Cheese Soup, Alfredo Broccoli, and Parmesan Rabe.

It even includes recipes for the more creative types and is loaded with colorful photographic illustrations of food and beer for visual enhancement.This book includes a rundown of notable American craft breweries and of all the sections in the book, this is the one most likely to cause emotional reactions from readers, not because of what is included but because of what isn’t included. There is no doubt that the breweries listed in this section rank among the best/most important, but craft beer aficionados are bound to argue that better breweries exist and were deserving of inclusion. Which are truly best and most notable is a matter of opinion and I know that some readers will not like what they read in this part of the book.Taken as a whole, however, Beer, Food, and Flavor is a very good guide to craft beer and its growing presence in homes, restaurants, and taverns across this land of ours. It’s a great guide for educational purposes, useful as a reference tool, and very good for both rookies and seasoned craft beer junkies like me. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Characters and everyday folks By Nanci I first discovered Charles Dickenson with his totally wonderful novel "The Widows' Adventure." This novel is just as well written, while not quite as winsome. I love stories that truly develop their characters, and which contain characters about whom you care. Dickenson seems to be one of those authors, like Anne Tyler and Anne Lamott, who can accomplish this effortlessly. This is a good read, and the ending sweet.

It's a beautifully written book, about a loan shark with a heart, a family of great interest and complexity and the changes that the Vietnam war makes in America.Read it - you will then want to read all of Mr. Dickinson's marvelous novels.

Great for anyone interested in Greek culture or cuisine By Sara E As someone who has always wanted to visit Greece, this book was a fantastic way to experience Greek culture without the travel expenses. The author recounts her experience growing up in a traditional Greek household, giving a unique view of Greek culture. Throughout the book, there are stunning photos that show off the beauty of Greece.As for the food, this book is perfect for both experienced cooks and beginners - even those who have never had Greek food. The author lists many of the most commonly used ingredients in Greek cuisine so you'll never get to a recipe and see an ingredient you don't recognize. And most of the recipes have accompanying photos so you can see the finished product. I haven't tried many of the recipes yet, but if they taste half as good as they look, I'm sure I'll find my new favorite dish soon!

It's visually stunning - amazing photographs that draw you in and cause you to linger on the page. The content is equally beautiful. The first third of the book is dedicated to telling the author's story and communicating her love of Greek cooking and culture. Her stories of her family and in-laws are sweet and touching, and her encouragement to make the family table a place not just a time to eat a meal for nourishment, but to savor both the food and the company, is refreshing. The remaining portion of the book gives you a quick overview of the staple ingredients you will use in Greek cooking, as well as a brief description of each item, and then goes straight into the recipes. The recipes range from more basic and familiar sounding dishes (meatballs, stuffed peppers, etc) to exotic (pickled octopus!). I enjoyed sitting for an afternoon and reading through the book and all of it's recipes - I am excited to start trying them all out! If you enjoy learning from a passionate home cook who has thoroughly researched and practiced her cooking technique for many years, this is the perfect book for you!

Excerpt from Marcus Alonzo Hanna: His Life and WorkThe preparation of the material upon which the following account of Marcus Alonzo Hanna's life and work is based was attended with many difficulties. No political leader of similar prominence in modern times has left such a slim public record of his characteristic achievements. He began his career as a political manager whose work consisted, not in the advocacy of legislative policies or in acts of public administration, but in political planning and negotiation, which only incidentally became a matter of public record. Throughout his career this aspect of his work remained of decisive importance. To give a full and accurate account of such plans and negotiations is almost an impossibility, and it is impossible, not merely because many of these negotiations were essentially confidential, but because subsequent accounts of them, even when given in good faith, can scarcely avoid some inaccuracy and partiality. Mr. Hanna's correspondence also throws comparatively little light upon the critical decisions and moments of his career. The really decisive negotiations were never committed to paper, and Mr. Hanna did not keep copies of many of the most important letters which he wrote and received.In order to supplement the necessary scarcity of documentary material bearing on Mr. Hanna's life and work, all of his political and business associates were asked to contribute full and careful statements covering those phases of his career with which they were familiar. The task of taking these statements was confided to Mr. James B. Morrow, who had been for many years editor of the Cleveland Leader, and who brought to the work unusually high qualifications. By Auren Hoffman Biography written in 1909 about one of United States most interesting business and political figures. Mark Hanna was an successful industrialist, a U.S. Senator, campaign manager for President McKinley, most powerful political figure in Cleveland, and more. All throughout, Hanna led an amazing life. This was one of the more difficult books I have ever acquired -- finally got it through Amazon -- it has been out of print for many many years.

The discussion of the process and history of making tea is great for the tea enthusiast or novice. Its chapters are clear and well thought out. I would recommend this as a coffee-table book or for someone who just wants to learn more about tea. The author does not talk down to the reader, but rather celebrates the whole process with the reader.

I hesitate calling it a reference book because it is so nicely written. I like the three part organization, the interesting information and the well-placed pictures. As the daughter of a long-time tea bag drinker I am learning to appreciate loose tea. As a retired language arts teacher I appreciate the format and clearly written information. I enjoy the third part with the pairings and cocktail suggestions. It was clever Joseph used local Detroit bars for new drink suggestions. It is a book I will share with family and friends and have handy to use as a reference and even conversation starter.

By CA Dreamer I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning (and seeing) how shoes get from an idea to the retail store. It's a large coffee table sized book which we keep out. The color photos from real factories are great, and the informative text is written in easy to read chapters. Great for designers, developers, manufacturers or sneaker fans. I have been a reader of sneakerfactory.net for a few years now and this guy really knows what's he's talking about.

0 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not worth it. By lance While there is some good information in this book, it is not worth the $40 asking price. As a product developer looking to expand my knowledge base I found this book to be only somewhat helpful, to miss important things in some places, and to be simply wrong in others.If you are writing a book on shoe design and development and you chose to include information about costing and import, then it is important to know that FOB means "Free On Board" not "Freight on Board" as the author states, and to know that FOB is the cost of a good up to the point where it passes the threshold of a shipping vessel at its port of origin, not "the price of the shoe, plus delivery in a shipping container to the port of entry in the USA." If you are in product development, this is pretty standard stuff that you should know. Getting information like this wrong is quite egregious and severely damages the book's credibility.There are also plenty of things not covered in this book, or just glanced over. While the focus of the book is clearly on sneakers and athletic shoes, none of the most important tends of recent design are mentioned, such as the use of monofilament meshes, welded overlays, and newer foam compounds/foam additives.Finally, overall the writing is fairly poor. The author's repetition of the same sentence within a paragraph, and sequential paragraphs that say effectively the same thing (often in the same words) are consistently irritating. Much worse than that is the atrocious copy editing - words that clearly have been auto-corrected and are wrong, poor punctuation, etc. If you are charging $40 for your book, then the execution really has to be top-notch. This is not.Despite my overall negative impression of the book, I will certainly admit that I did learn a few things by reading it. The problem is that I had to wade through 250 pages in order to glean what amounts to 30-40 pages of good information (plus a decent glossary at the back).
