I was younger but couldn't remember the process. And everybody I asked said they didn't remember how.I think they just didn't want to do it because it was a long labor intensive task..But this book shows you how to do it faster and easier. And the food sure isn't the old bland stuff we used to can.The author teaches you the 3 different ways to can including the good and bad points so you can decide which one is better for you to use.She also gives you techniques for dehydrating your food.You'll learn the best canning equipment to buy also.And you get recipes for food I never would have thought of canning. Who knew you could can cookie mixes?I didn't! And you also get the recipes for gravy too! I know I seem too excited for a book about canning but I really am.With this book I can learn how to can food so I will k ow my family has food to eat.That's so important. Especially with food prices getting so outrageous. Even if you don't want to can it,there's great recipes in here.Everything from the gravy to a whole meal and dessert. Im going to get any other cooking books from this author. She's easy to understand and learn from.I'm glad I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest review

I'm kind of new to the whole canning thing so I liked how at the beginning of the book it explained all about it, The process and the different ways you can do it,and it explains the things you will need to get the job done right. This book takes you through each step you need to complete the canning process and not to mention the book is full of many lovely recipes, from full meals,to sauces,seasonings and even baking mixes and not the mention I have tried many of the recipes out already and they are heavenly. This is a must have whether you are a seasoned canner,or just starting out.
