McKee If you're interested in how cooking has evolved, and what skills a cook was expected to know at a particular period of time, then this book will be of historical interest to you. It's also an interesting window into the science of cooking, as it was known in the 1920s.

We live in an RV, so hand washing dishes is extremely important. Knowing how Grandma was expected to run the kitchen and what she had to deal with is very relevant in today's society. If you can't afford all of the convenience items in the grocery store, it is very nice to get back to basics and make your own. I, and several of my friends, make our own baking mixes, spice mixtures, and other modern staples. This book is wonderful for things like that!
