About the Author Jim Fusilli is a native of Hoboken, New Jersey, which serves as a model for the city of Narrows Gate in his fiction. A graduate of St. Peter s College, he joined The Wall Street Journal in the early 1980s and has been the newspaper s rock and pop music critic since 2008. He is the author of six novels and numerous short stories. He and his wife, public-relations executive Diane Holuk Fusilli, live in New York City. They have one daughter.

By Joe Dizney I pride usually myself on being up with what’s new, interesting and wothy of ears and a larger audience wh it comes to popular music (and here I include pop, rock, R&B, jazz and their ever-expanding tributaries). Jim Fusilli has that same kind of scope and Catching Up, much to my surprise ended up costing me much more than the cover price. There are many worthwhile neglected gems in here and his arguments for their inclusion and importance are clear and concise.he even managed to get me to revisit music I'd originally dismissed (Radiohead has always been beyond my interest or understanding) and approach it with a new viewpoint and appreciation, if not always enjoyment. Those moments were saved for left-field discoveries such as Victor Démé or Ballaké Sissoko & Vincent Segal or The Turtle Island Quartet for which I will always be grateful. The book is i great place to start. Follow-up with the website from which these aoppreciations are all excerpted.
