For the Love of the Corps By Keith Great book on the history of DCI era Drum Corps through re-reading and experiencing DCI Nationals through the eyes and prose of Drum Corps World writers. If you are new to drum corps it will give you an excellent feel for what has proceeded your involvement, how the corps have developed and grown through the years and just what made each corps, from a historical perspective, what it is today. If your an old drum corps fan this is an absolutely must have. As I read each Nationals cover story I enjoyed hearing about and remembering what each National caliber corps did in each DCI championship (placement, scores, recap numbers, etc.) but so much more than that, for me at least as I had been to almost all DCI Championships, was the way in which each writer's stories took me back to so many of those night in August. I loved reading this book and re-experiencing some of the best and most exciting nights of my life. If you truly love drum corps or just want to understand what all this is about this is a great book to either re-live old, deeply felt emotions and experiences or to just start to comprehend what this is all about and why drum corp fans are so ardent in there love of the corps.

This is a great read for fans, current marching members and anyone interested in drum and bugle corps history.

There are Facebook groups dedicated to corps who no longer take the field, as well as different eras of drum corps greatness. Heck, even as I’m writing this article, I have last year’s Drum Corps International World Championships performances blasting my face with sound. Drum corps does not have what it would call “casual fans”.That’s why this book, compiling every championships finals article published by Drum Corps World since its inception in 1972, are perfect for drum corps fans. The articles are in chronological order. Were you a part of the 1996 DCI season and looking to relive your experience on the field at championships? Just flip to Donald Chinn’s review and read his reaction to the first tie in DCI history. DCW has had 25 writers at DCI from 1972 to 2015 and everything they wrote about these two organizations’ championships during that time period is preserved for posterity in these two releases.I do have one disclaimer – I am one of those writers, having covered DCI Championships in 2015. I won’t comment on my own writing, but I will say that I consider myself fortunate to be in the company of those who covered championships before me. These reviews are written by true fans of the activity whose passion for what they’re witnessing comes through with every word committed to paper. If you’re a fan like they are and I am, you will definitely enjoy reading these books and experiencing drum corps history through their eyes, ears, and pens.

I work, have kids and not home enough to prepare big family meals every night. This book has great ideas and makes cooking easy and quick. I would recommend this book to anyone that doesn't think they have time to cook for themselves or their family - and cook healthy too. This book is a winner.

36 of 36 people found the following review helpful. 25 Pretty and Delightful Postcards Coloring Designs – printed on one side of heavyweight card stock By iiiireader [[VIDEOID:2d7747b67594397df9a38e2c8bb94a1b]]This is a beautiful set of postcard size designs. Each design is simply more delightful than the last one. I want to carry this book around with me constantly and color in it. It has birds, geometric patterns, sewing, fruit, flowers, and all sorts of other pretty and fun subjects.I had never seen any of Beth Gunnell's designs before, so I was taking a chance with this book and I am glad that I did. After testing this one, I immediately ordered her second book of floral postcards so that I can have one book in my purse and one at home. I really hope she continues with this style of book and maybe some larger format ones, too, that are for adults versus what seems to be her coloring books for young girls.The designs are, in fact, pre-set up for use as postcards with areas for shipping address, writing area, and stamp on the reverse side of each card. There are even cute little designs on that side as well which you can color with a lick of ink/pencil. The size of the book (and pages) is 7.75 x 4.75 inches.The designs are printed on one side of heavyweight, frame-able card stock that has a glued edge that makes removal from the book as simple as can be. All you have to do is carefully pull the design away from the edge and it is ready for mailing or framing as you choose. I could easily get this book to lay fairly flat but you can always remove pages for coloring if you wish to do so, too.This is probably the best paper I have in any of my coloring books, etc. The only thing that bled through these pages were my Copic and Prismacolor alcohol-based markers and those bleed through everything. My Sharpies, both fine and ultra-fine did NOT bleed through and I checked neon, dark, and bright colors as well. None of my water-based marker did either. My gel pens worked great but needed a little more drying time as the ink apparently sat on the surface of this great paper and did not sink into it. My coloring pencils worked fantastic.

I am finding that I enjoy colouring postcards more than I do actual colouring pages for two reasons: 1. The postcards are smaller, and I complete one before I get bored, and 2. I actually use the postcards to send to friends and family as birthday cards/notecards/thank you notes. They are a big hit. Nice variety of whimsical designs in this book, including several that are suitable to send to men. I bought a package of these clear envelopes - 100 - Clear Resealable A2 / A6 Card Envelopes Polypropylene Cello Bags 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" 1.5mil (A6) ---- I address my postcard and add a note, then slide the postcard into the clear envelope, seal and add a first class postage stamp for mailing. That way if the card gets wet in the mail, the colours won't run, particularly when I use gel pens. A couple people have told me they leave the card right in the cello envelope, add a strip of magnet to the back, and it becomes a fridge decoration!

About the Author Ruth Lieu was the youngest of seven children. She learned to cook by watching her mother prepare meals, and also saw fancy dishes conjured up by the catering chefs hired for holiday celebrations. By junior high, Ruth was preparing family dinners. In 1967 she immigrated to the Boston area with her husband, Leo. Ruth decided to write a cookbook to demystify Chinese dishes and their strange names like “Chop Suey” and “Ma Po Tofu.” She shares the cultural background of these dishes hoping to make eating Chinese food more interesting for the reader.

How many ways can you make a classic pancake, right? Well, add one excellent version to the list. We made the buttermilk pancakes next - also very tasty. Many of the recipes have not just a creative pancake recipe but also a syrup (or other topping - some of the recipes are quite creative - chili cheese corndog pancakes anyone?) recipe to match the pancake. The apple streusel pancakes really did remind me of muffins mom used to make. I say 'we' as making and enjoying these pancakes has been a family experience. Our kids have enjoyed helping make and consume these pancakes. :)One thing I didn’t love - generally my cookbooks have bindings that allow you to lay them flat. Because this is a soft cover I had to place my butter dish one on side of the book to keep it open while looking at recipes. Not a big deal. Each recipe has a full page picture which is helpful in seeing what you'll get.While we've only had the cookbook for a short period and made just a few of the recipes so far I'm looking forward to trying them all. I think this would be an excellent gift for a pancake lover or a family looking to do something fun together.

Sunday morning breakfast is a family tradition and this cookbook provides a great set of recipes to try. The cookbook has a photo for each recipe, larger typeface to make it easier to read and simple directipns.

This is a very informative book that goes into great detail of what is healthy to eat, and what is best to avoid for a healthy alkaline diet. From the best foods, to the right supplements, everything you need to be alkalized and energized is right here. The smoothies looks very good. So far I've only had one, but I'm gonna try all of them. I feel I'm gonna be very healthy in a while and even lose some weight.If you are in need of a great weight loss guide then i would recommend you grab a copy of this book.

If you're a fan of alkaline cooking, this is a pretty good collection to get. Recipes designed around balancing your pH level, losing weight, and increasing energy. Budding artists can receive some ideas and techniques from this book; however I think the content is more geared for pencil artists that are drawing at an intermediate to advanced level. I purchased this book based on the artists instructional videos, as an addition to my art library and based on the contents.

New Year’s Eve, 1958, 10pm: Magnum photographer Burt Glinn is at a black-tie party in New York when he hears news that dictator Fulgencio Batista has fled Cuba. By 7 am the next morning, he is in Havana in a cab, telling the driver: "take me to the revolution." Such photojournalistic fervor allowed Glinn to be in the middle of the action to capture the Cuban Revolution as it unfolded on the ground. As Glinn said, “I could get up as close as I wanted.” His magnificent photographs convey the revolutionary idealism, mayhem and excitement of that moment in history. This volume includes some of Glinn’s most iconic Cuban photographs, as well as unseen shots, in both black and white and color, from gunshots being fired, confusion on the streets, the rounding up of the Batista Secret Police, spontaneous gatherings, embracing revolutionaries returning home to mothers, and, of course, Fidel Castro’s triumphant entrance into Havana. Glinn is famously quoted as saying, “I think that what you’ve got to do is discover the essential truth of the situation, and have a point of view about it.” This tome celebrates his ability to do just that.Burt Glinn (1925–2008) was an award-winning photographer with a career spanning more than fifty years. He was versatile, technically brilliant and a legend in his own lifetime. Self taught, Glinn first worked for Life magazine in the late 1940s before going freelance. He joined Magnum Photos in 1951--one of the first Americans to do so--eventually serving as its president in the 1970s and again in the 1980s. Glinn embraced color photography as well as black and white, establishing his reputation with a spectacular color series on the South Seas, Japan, Russia, Mexico and California. He went on to capture crucial moments in history, including the Sinai War in 1956, the US Marine invasion of Lebanon in 1958, the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and Robert Kennedy’s 1968 presidential campaign. He offered searing insight with his social documentary photography, including a collection of unseen, soon to be published images of the Beat Generation. He was renowned for his iconic portraits of celebrities such as Andy Warhol and Elizabeth Taylor and was a highly successful commercial photographer. In 1981, Glinn married Elena Prohaska and their son Samuel Pierson Glinn was born in 1982.

I bought this book for my husband as Christmas gift because he is interested in Cuba. My entire family end up reading this photo journalist book back to back and had a major discussion about Cuba then and now! The writing was short but very descriptive of the revolution taking places for a 10 days period. The photographer really captured the moment frame by frame. The photos are incredibly details so you can study each photo and when you go back to look at it again, discover new details and depth. The cover shows a young Castro with Cuban cigar, that alone is worth buying the book! If you have any interest in Cuba, and love excellent documentary photographs, this is the book to buy and keep, or to give as gift.

The book consists of five short stories. They cover a range from treasure hunting to modern day working cowboys. There is a story about two retired gentlemen from South Texas fishing in the Rocky Mountains. One is about deer hunting in central Texas. The treasure hunting story is about a beach comber that lives along the Gulf Coast of Texas. One story is about the Texas revolution in 1836. This book has some factual locations in it. They are all fiction. Some are written with things that happened in my life to me. The story about fishing in the rocky mountains never happened. I do have a friend that owns a farm/ranch in South Texas. We go there sometimes and in the evenings we talk or tell stories. That is as close to actual fact as any one of them get.

At the age of twenty one I switched to the petro-chemical manufacturing business. I spent most of my adult life working in pipeline and underground storage of petro chemical products. When I retired my name and reputation was known on three continents and four countries. I have worked with people from all over the world. At one time I have spoken three languages. I have many stories to tell. It has been my life's ambition to publish a novel.

The time and effort, to put these jars together, is more a matter of time consuming, than anything else. The advantage of doing this is when you go to use any of them, you don't have to check for all of the ingredients, because you have insured you have everything you need, by putting it in the jar, ahead of time. There is another advantage e, as well, because they make great gifts, for any occasion. Especially for older people, people just starting out, etc... Grab this book, and make your cooking experience, quicker, and easier.

This book has a wide variety of seasoning, salad dressing, soup, oatmeal, cake and cookie mixes. There are even 3 pie crust recipes. There are bread and cake mixes to Cook in a jar. I think several of these will be added to my tried and true list.
