In a small Virginia town, following World War Ii, a young girl learns some hard life lessons and rules to live by from her mother and the boarders taken in at Hawk's Nest.

______________ Mother had not moved since all the commotion began. She still held the plate of scrambled eggs she had brought in from the kitchen. She slowly lowered the plate to set it on the table.

“How?” Mother asked. “How could Claire know that?”

Ophelia got Mother to sit down. “Because she has 'the gift,'” Ophelia stated.

“What gift?”

“Claire sees things. Things the rest of us can't envision. She's tuned into another level, gets information from some higher source.”

About the Author

I feel like I have experienced three lives during this lifetime. First chapter in Virginia as Louise Timberlake spending my childhood in Sweet Hall going to grade school at King William and middle school at West Point. Then moved to Williamsburg going to high school at James Blair. Next a B.S. degree from R.P.I. (now Virginia Commonwealth University) in Richmond followed by a short career in Virginia Beach as an Educational Representative for The IBM Corporation.

The second chapter as Louise Northon after marrying Cliff, a native of New Orleans. After completing a M.A. degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, I spent the following thirty-four years in the suburbs of New Orleans raising our two sons. At this time I went from left-brained to right-brained and began studying art with June Lampe at Lampe Gallery, writing, cooking, decorating and then “The Guides” classes under Mary Jo McCabe. This chapter ended in 2005 when my husband died of a brain tumor followed by Hurricane Katrina flooding my home two months later.

Returning to Virginia, I reconnected with Ray, a former friend from high school, and now I am on my third chapter as Louise Wright living in Glen Allen, Virginia. Having survived many life lessons, life is good.
